Residents
A new pool will support the health and well-being of residents of all ages. Swimming is excellent exercise and the proposed design will support competitive swimming, diving, deep and shallow water exercise.
Season passes will make spending the summer at the pool affordable. The zero depth entry will encourage even the youngest swimmers to enjoy and feel comfortable in the water. This essential community asset would support the vitality of our community and preserve the tradition that many of us grew up with – riding our bikes to the pool with our friends. It’s the way summer should be!
Businesses
Businesses near the pool will benefit from household dollars staying right here. Instead of pushing customers out to neighboring communities to recreate in the summer, parents will be running errands along the commercial corridors of Wauwatosa on their way to and from the pool with their children. What’s more, pool concessions and the planned coffee house in the old bath house will be an opportunity for a business to expand in the heart of Wauwatosa.
All Taxpayers
As part of the lease with Milwaukee County, pool operations are required to be financially self-sustaining. By examining the experiences of other pools in communities across the state, and by raising money for a reserve fund, we are confident that the pool will not become a burden to taxpayers.
A vibrant recreational facility enhances the desirability of our community as a place to live, preserving property values and tax base. Parkland and recreational activities like swimming are critical components of the perceived value of owning property in a community.
