Back by popular demand…Hearts for Hoyt II

Last year the Friends of Hoyt Park & Pool (FOHPP) hosted its first major fundraising event, Hearts for Hoyt.  Due to the overwhelming success and positive feedback, FOHPP is planning Hearts for Hoyt II on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the Wauwatosa Woman’s Club.

This extravaganza will continue the tradition of community support, and include: delectable taste treats, music and entertainment, and a live and silent auction with items generously donated by businesses in Wauwatosa and neighboring communities.

Community support has been a key factor in FOHPP’s success thus far.  “We are thankful to the individuals and local businesses, who helped make our 2007 event a huge success.  2008 looks to be another fabulous event,” said Kit Slawski, event co-chair, and FOHPP board member.

FOHPP is pleased to welcome back voice talents from local high schools, and the Roosevelt Elementary’s fifth graders, who have been working hard to master the tap and ballroom dances derived from the 2005 hit documentary Mad Hot Ballroom.  “We have really upgraded our dancing with the Mad Hot Ballroom & Tap program; the kids look forward to participating in this wonderful community event,” said Mrs. Peggy Paar, Roosevelt Elementary music teacher.

Friends of Hoyt Park & Pool Volunteers

The Friends of Hoyt Park & Pool are continuing their community outreach effort while working simultaneously to launch a major capital campaign after receiving a $4 million challenge grant from the TOSA Foundation this summer.  The private fund-raising effort began as a grassroots campaign to build a new community pool at Hoyt Park.

FOHPP has a new volunteer with years of experience in her own neighborhood association, Jane Fischer, and she is already working to help coordinate the many residents who have said they want to get involved in the project.  Volunteers will be needed to assist with upcoming events throughout the next year.  If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Jane Fischer, FOHPP Volunteer Coordinator at FOHPP@wi.rr.com to be added to the database (if you haven’t already been contacted about your interest).
In addition, if you are interested in making a donation, want an FOHPP yard sign, or wish to arrange a “Hoyt Perk” open house at the historic Hoyt Park bath house for your neighborhood to see the pool plans, please contact FOHPP via email at FOHPP@wi.rr.com or via mail to FOHPP,    P.
